WHAT IS TOMBACK? >>> Tomback is a percussion band integrated by 7 young drummers and percussionists, whose ages range from 21 to 29 years old. They interpret their music only through percussion instruments and digital sequences, being based mainly on Latin rhythms and also in other world musical styles. As the group works 100% with percussion, one of its main objectives is to transmit all the possible energy, power, color, movement and groove or “sabor”. Its public is not selective, since it reaches out to people of: all the ages, from children to adults; all social and economic conditions, and people lovers of any musical style from punk even to classic.
MUSICAL PRODUCTIONS >>> Tomback’s first recorded album, 'Equilibrio', was worked rigorously during 2002, and it came out for sale in 2003. It contains adaptations and arrangements of well-known compositions, known in different styles as Brazilian, Ecuadorian bomb, rock, etc., everything performed a 100% with percussion instruments. 'Equilibrio' was sold out in Ecuador 2 weeks after entering the market and got to the first positions in sales in Ecuador’s most important music stores. They have sold approximately 30 000 copies of this first production.
To the moment Tomback is promoting their second musical production called “Dimensión”, which came out the market in 2007; this time all the compositions are arranged, composed and fixed by the group, on rhythms like samba, batucada, African rhythms, marches, bahiao, calypso, shuffle and others. This time having as a base the power and rhythm of percussion but adding digital sequences made by real instruments (bass, trumpets, saxophone, marimba, etc) and also by computer programs, which have been used to make the listener find a different color in Tomback´s new music and compositions. This album has defined the musical evolution of the band and until this moment has had great success both in a national level and worldwide.
